A – Z of foods that benefit the skin; Mango

Posted by on

‘M’ is for Mango Mangoes are an amazing fruit…for someone originally from the UK, eating a Mango makes me instantly feel like I’m on holiday! Grown in most tropical climates Mangoes originally came from India. Did you know they are part of the Cashew family? Mangoes are great for our skin because of their high fibre content. Yep – they help you poo! But also Mangoes contain Potassium, which helps to regulate our body’s water content. It’s so important to stay hydrated, particularly if you suffer with problem skin. Staying hydrated ensures waste is removed and doesn’t show up in the form of spots, pimples and acne. Mangoes also have a good amount of antioxidants, which help to fight free radicals, and again with the correct amount of water in our systems any waste produced can be removed. Mangoes can be eaten by themselves, however to be even more beneficial for our skin it’s better to eat them with a little protein to ensure a slow release of sugars into our system. Yoghurt is a great addition with coconut yoghurt being even better for those of us whose skin doesn’t work well with dairy products.
