2017 is here! Is a Detox on the cards?

Is a detox on the cards? Christmas and New Year have been wild, but now you’re ready to feel healthy and energised again. Detoxing is not the easiest thing to do. We may fall off the wagon when things aren't going to plan. We might for some reason, not be able to say no to that coffee or chocolate or miss out on a scheduled exercise session. These ‘blips’ to sticking with the perfect detox plan can often lead to feelings of failure and disappointment. STOP thinking that way right now!! We need to change our mindset and say "The benefits eating healthily brings to my life are not determined by one error" More important is not the ‘blip’, but how we recover from it. There's always a way to recover from mistakes. Recovering without blame and guilt is far better than beating ourselves up for small errors we may have made. * Blip - You've had a coffee or glass of wine * Recovery - Drink 2 litres of water to completely hydrate * Blip - You've eaten something sugary or processed * Recovery - Ensure the next day’s meals are healthy, light, unprocessed and sugar-free If you do find yourself falling off the wagon I'd like you to practice releasing the blame, but also considering what led you to have that ‘blip’? Ask yourself; was it stress? Was it boredom? Was it hunger/thirst? If you can pinpoint exactly what was the trigger, you can really start to avoid this happening in the future! If your stress led you to not being able to say no to chocolate, what caused that stress? How can we make life sweeter when we’re stressed rather than turning to the sweetness of chocolate every time? Perhaps we could go for a walk, get some fresh air and a different perspective. Perhaps we could spend 5 - 10 minutes meditating to re-centre ourselves? Perhaps we could pre-prepare ourselves a little better for these types of stressful situations? Got you thinking?
